> ## Agent Instructions
> Agent home for Datum, with what it is, pricing, and how to act: https://agents.datum.net
> If you can only fetch URLs: read https://www.datum.net/docs/llms.txt in full and open the most specific page for the task. Commands, limits, and field paths are on task, operations, and limits pages, not on section overviews. Pages described as "Documentation is coming soon" are placeholders.
> If you have a shell or can save files: download https://www.datum.net/docs/llms-full.txt (every page, about 740 KB) once and search it with grep, instead of fetching pages one at a time.
> datumctl describes itself: `datumctl api-resources` lists resource types and `datumctl explain <resource>` shows a schema. To act on live resources, use Datum MCP or datumctl. To search the docs, use the Docs MCP server at https://www.datum.net/docs/mcp.

# Roadmap

> What Datum offers today, what is in preview, and where to follow and influence what comes next.

Datum is still being built. We are building a public cloud that is free during public beta, with usage-based [pricing](https://www.datum.net/pricing), and working closely with design partners on managed cloud and BYOC approaches. This page summarizes where each product stands.

## Available today

Our public cloud is opinionated, but powered by key partners. We call these our "house brand" services:

* **[Application Load Balancer](/docs/alb/overview.md):** an [Envoy](/docs/platform/envoy.md) edge proxy and AI gateway, with a built-in [web application firewall](/docs/alb/configuration/waf.md).
* **[Connectors](/docs/connectors/overview.md):** a way to orchestrate connections, starting with QUIC tunnels powered by [Iroh](/docs/platform/iroh-relays.md).
* **[Domains and DNS](/docs/domain-dns/overview.md):** domain tracking and verification, plus global authoritative DNS.
* **Essentials:** [metrics export](/docs/operations/metrics-export.md), [activity logs](/docs/operations/activity-logs.md), [secrets](/docs/operations/secrets.md), and team collaboration.

## In preview

* **[Compute](/docs/compute/overview.md):** isolated Instances that run container images or fast-starting [unikernels](/docs/compute/runtimes/unikernels.md) in Datum locations.
* **[gVPC](/docs/galactic-vpc/overview.md):** private IPv6 networks for your Instances that span every location they run in, on Datum's [SRv6](/docs/platform/segment-routing.md) backbone.

## What we're working on

* **More Connectors:** developer options such as Tailscale tailnets and WireGuard VPNs, and telco options such as AWS Direct Connect, Equinix Fabric, and Megaport onramps.
* **vMMR:** a virtual "meet me room" for interacting with diverse connections.
* **Networking for Instances:** firewall rules and private DNS. See [gVPC planned capabilities](/docs/galactic-vpc/limitations-and-roadmap.md#planned-capabilities).

## Product roadmaps

Each product has its own limitations and roadmap page:

* [gVPC](/docs/galactic-vpc/limitations-and-roadmap.md)
* [Compute](/docs/compute/limitations-and-roadmap.md)
* [Application Load Balancer](/docs/alb/limitations-and-roadmap.md)
* [Connectors](/docs/connectors/limitations-and-roadmap.md)
* [Domains and DNS](/docs/domain-dns/limitations-and-roadmap.md)

## Follow along and get involved

To see what has already shipped, read the [changelog](/docs/changelog.md).

The best place to track our roadmap is our [website and milestones](https://www.datum.net/roadmap/). To suggest a feature, visit our [GitHub discussions](https://github.com/orgs/datum-cloud/discussions/categories/feature-requests). For more ways to take part, see [Get involved](/docs/get-involved.md).

### Enhancement proposals

Datum designs major changes in the open, in the [datum-cloud/enhancements](https://github.com/datum-cloud/enhancements) repository on GitHub. It holds proposals for significant architectural changes, cross-cutting work such as security and performance, and long-term roadmap items that span several releases. Each proposal starts as an issue, is refined with maintainers and the community, and becomes an enhancement document. Proposals move from `Backlog` to `In Progress` to `Completed`.

To follow the design behind what's coming, browse the [open enhancements](https://github.com/datum-cloud/enhancements/issues). To propose one of your own, open a new issue there. For smaller ideas and feature requests, use [GitHub discussions](https://github.com/orgs/datum-cloud/discussions/categories/feature-requests) instead.
