> If you can only fetch URLs: read https://www.datum.net/docs/llms.txt in full and open the most specific page for the task. Commands, limits, and field paths are on task, operations, and limits pages, not on section overviews. Pages described as "Documentation is coming soon" are placeholders.
> If you have a shell or can save files: download https://www.datum.net/docs/llms-full.txt (every page, about 740 KB) once and search it with grep, instead of fetching pages one at a time.
> datumctl describes itself: `datumctl api-resources` lists resource types and `datumctl explain <resource>` shows a schema. To act on live resources, use Datum MCP or datumctl. To search the docs, use the Docs MCP server at https://www.datum.net/docs/mcp.

# Destroying workloads

> Delete a workload, every Instance it created, and its ALB with datumctl compute destroy.

`datumctl compute destroy` removes a workload, its ALB, and every Instance that it created in every location:

```bash theme={null}
datumctl compute destroy api
```

Before it deletes anything, the command prints a summary of the number of [placements](https://www.datum.net/docs/compute/placement-and-scaling.md), the locations, the total minimum replicas, and the ALB's hostnames, and then asks for confirmation. Custom domains attached to the ALB stop serving the workload, but Datum keeps the domain resources. To skip the prompt in scripts and CI, pass `-y` or `--yes`:

```bash theme={null}
datumctl compute destroy api -y
```

> [!WARNING]
>
> Unlike `datumctl delete` elsewhere in the CLI, `destroy` has no `--dry-run` and there's no `diff` equivalent to preview it. The confirmation prompt is your only checkpoint — read the summary it prints, or check the workload yourself first:
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> datumctl compute workloads describe api
> ```

## Next steps

* `datumctl compute destroy --help` for the full flag reference.
* [Deploying workloads](https://www.datum.net/docs/datumctl/compute/deploying-workloads.md) — redeploy the workload later from the same manifest or image.
* [Operations](https://www.datum.net/docs/datumctl/compute/scaling-and-operations.md) — restart or check Instances before you decide to remove a workload altogether.
