> Agent home for Datum, with what it is, pricing, and how to act: https://agents.datum.net
> If you can only fetch URLs: read https://www.datum.net/docs/llms.txt in full and open the most specific page for the task. Commands, limits, and field paths are on task, operations, and limits pages, not on section overviews. Pages described as "Documentation is coming soon" are placeholders.
> If you have a shell or can save files: download https://www.datum.net/docs/llms-full.txt (every page, about 740 KB) once and search it with grep, instead of fetching pages one at a time.
> datumctl describes itself: `datumctl api-resources` lists resource types and `datumctl explain <resource>` shows a schema. To act on live resources, use Datum MCP or datumctl. To search the docs, use the Docs MCP server at https://www.datum.net/docs/mcp.

# Create an account

> Create a Datum Cloud account with your Google or GitHub account, or with your email address and a passkey.

## Sign up with Google or GitHub

To sign up with Google or GitHub, follow these steps:

1. Go to [https://cloud.datum.net](https://cloud.datum.net). On **Welcome**, click **Create account**.
2. On **Get started**, click **Google** or **GitHub**, and sign in to that account.

Your Datum Cloud account uses the email address from your Google or GitHub account. You don't need a passkey, but you can add one later as another way to sign in. For the steps, see [Add a passkey](/docs/account/passkeys.md#add-a-passkey).

## Sign up with your email and a passkey

A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN. Datum doesn't use passwords, so if you sign up with your email address, your passkey is how you sign in.

### Before you begin

To sign up with your email address, you need the following:

* A device, browser, or password manager that supports passkeys, such as a recent phone or laptop.
* Access to the inbox for your email address.

### Create your account

To sign up with your email address and a passkey, follow these steps:

**1. Start sign up**

Go to [https://cloud.datum.net](https://cloud.datum.net). On **Welcome**, click **Create account**.

**2. Enter your email address**

On **Get started**, click **Email**, enter your email address, and click **Continue**.

The **Check your email** screen opens.

**3. Verify your email address**

Open the email with the subject "Verify your email address for Datum". It contains a **Verify email** link and a code. Do one of the following:

* To keep going on the device you're using, enter the code in **Or enter the code from that email** and click **Continue**.
* To create your passkey on the device where you read the email, such as your phone, click **Verify email** on that device.

Datum creates your passkey on the device where you finish signing up, so choose the device you want to sign in with. The link and code expire after 60 minutes.

**4. Create your passkey**

Click **Register passkey** and confirm with your device. Stay on this page until you finish, because the passkey is the only way to sign in to your new account.

On **Name your passkey**, keep the suggested name or enter your own, and click **Save**. You can't rename a passkey later, so pick a name that tells you which device it's on.

**5. Sign in**

On **Your account is ready**, click **Go to sign in**. On **Welcome**, click **Passkey** and confirm with your device. The first time, your device can ask you to confirm twice: once to find your account and once to sign you in.

## Troubleshooting sign up

| Problem | What to do |
| - | - |
| The verification email doesn't arrive. | Check your spam folder. Wait a few minutes, then go back to **Get started** and submit your email address again to get a new email. |
| "That code is invalid or has expired. Start over to get a new one." | Check the code for typos. If it has expired, click **Wrong address? Start over**, wait a few minutes, and submit your email address again. |
| **Link expired** | The link was already used or is more than 60 minutes old. Click **Start over**. |
| "An account with this email already exists. Try signing in instead." | Sign in instead. If you can't use your passkey, click **Recover your account**, or see [Recover your account](/docs/account/recover-account.md). |
| "That didn't go through. Please try again." | Try again. If it keeps happening, contact [support@datum.net](mailto:support@datum.net). |
